Often called the gateway to the Annapurna region, Pokhara is known for its laid-back lakeside atmosphere, dramatic mountain backdrop, and wide range of activities, from gentle sightseeing to high-adrenaline adventure sports.
The tour begins with your arrival in Pokhara, either by scenic mountain flight or overland drive from Kathmandu, followed by a relaxed afternoon exploring Phewa Lake, the city’s tranquil centerpiece, with the option of a boat ride out to the island temple of Tal Barahi. The following morning begins early with the undoubted highlight of the trip: sunrise from Sarangkot, where the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri ranges are lit up in shades of orange and gold as the sun rises over the Himalaya.
After breakfast, the day continues with visits to Davis Falls, the mystical Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave, Bindhyabasini Temple, and the World Peace Pagoda, with sweeping views over the valley and lake from its hilltop setting. On the final day, depending on your departure time, there is an opportunity to visit the quieter Begnas Lake or the International Mountain Museum, before your onward journey back to Kathmandu or continuing elsewhere in Nepal.
This tour can be enjoyed throughout the year, with the clearest mountain views generally found during autumn (September-November) and spring (March-May). It is easily combined with a trek in the Annapurna region, a paragliding or zip-lining adventure, or simply enjoyed as a relaxing escape after a longer trekking trip elsewhere in Nepal.

Pokhara Valley with Sunrise Tour – 3 Days — Important Trip Info
Pokhara can be visited throughout the year, though the clearest mountain views, especially for the Sarangkot sunrise, are generally found during autumn (September-November) and spring (March-May). The monsoon season (June-August) brings frequent cloud cover, which can obscure the mountains, particularly in the afternoon, while winter (December-February) is cool but generally dry with good morning visibility.
Sarangkot, at 1,592 meters, is one of the most popular sunrise viewpoints in Nepal, offering uninterrupted views of the Annapurna range, Dhaulagiri, and Machhapuchhre (Fishtail). Because cloud cover can sometimes obscure the mountains, especially outside the main spring and autumn seasons, we recommend allowing some flexibility in your schedule where possible, in case a second early morning visit is needed.
Pokhara is one of the world’s best paragliding destinations, and Sarangkot also offers zip-lining, ultralight flights, and other adventure activities. These can be added to this itinerary at an extra cost; please let us know in advance if you would like to include any of these experiences.
As the tour includes visits to active religious sites, modest clothing covering the shoulders and knees is recommended at temples such as Bindhyabasini and Gupteshwor Cave. Warm layers are recommended for the early morning departure to Sarangkot, as temperatures before sunrise can be noticeably cooler than during the day. Comfortable walking shoes are advisable, as several sites involve walking on stone steps or uneven surfaces.
Phewa Lake
The second-largest lake in Nepal, Phewa Lake is famous for its reflections of Machhapuchhre and the Annapurna range, with the island temple of Tal Barahi at its center.
Sarangkot
A hilltop viewpoint above Pokhara, long regarded as one of the finest places in Nepal to watch the sunrise over the Himalaya.
Davis Falls and Gupteshwor Mahadev Cave
Locally known as Patale Chhango, Davis Falls plunges into an underground tunnel that can be viewed from within the adjoining Gupteshwor Cave, a sacred site housing a natural Shiva lingam.
World Peace Pagoda
One of several Peace Pagodas built around the world by a Japanese Buddhist organization, this hilltop stupa offers some of the best panoramic views of Pokhara Valley and the surrounding peaks.
This tour is graded easy and is suitable for travelers of most ages and fitness levels. Some short flights of stairs are involved at the World Peace Pagoda and Gupteshwor Cave, but the overall pace is relaxed. The tour can be arranged for solo travelers, couples, families, or groups of any size, with itinerary timing adjusted as needed.
What our travellers say
“The Manaslu trek is incomparable. It's suitable as a first trek in the Himalayas — plenty of time for acclimatisation and such captivating views that spending time on "altitude sickness" would be a pity. And it's a special pleasure to walk with Krishna. He is a knowledgeable, reliable and brave guide, and a very pleasa…”
