Trip Overview

The Khopra Danda and Annapurna Base Camp Trek – 15 Days combines two remarkable Himalayan experiences into one carefully designed journey. The route takes you from traditional mountain villages and lush forests to high alpine ridges, panoramic viewpoints, and the spectacular Annapurna Sanctuary.

The trek begins in Kathmandu and continues toward the Annapurna region, where the walking adventure starts through picturesque villages and terraced hillsides. As you gradually gain elevation, the landscape changes from subtropical forests to rhododendron woodland and alpine terrain, with increasingly impressive views of the surrounding Himalayan peaks.

One of the major highlights is Khopra Danda, a scenic ridge situated above the Kali Gandaki Valley. From the viewpoint, trekkers can enjoy expansive views of Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South, Fang, Nilgiri, and other snow-covered peaks. The relatively peaceful atmosphere of this section provides an excellent contrast to Nepal's busier trekking trails.

The journey then continues toward the Annapurna Sanctuary, following mountain trails through forests and traditional settlements before reaching Annapurna Base Camp at approximately 4,130m. Surrounded by towering Himalayan peaks, the base camp offers an unforgettable high-altitude experience beneath the massive Annapurna massif.

The trek also provides an opportunity to experience the rich culture of the Annapurna region. Gurung and Magar communities, traditional houses, terraced farms, Buddhist and Hindu shrines, prayer flags, and local teahouses provide an authentic introduction to Himalayan life.

The 15-day Khopra Danda and Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a moderately challenging adventure suitable for trekkers with good physical fitness and a willingness to walk several hours each day. The combination of panoramic mountain views, quieter trails, cultural encounters, high-altitude landscapes, and the iconic Annapurna Base Camp makes this a diverse and rewarding Himalayan trekking experience.

Breakfast is provided in Kathmandu and Pokhara, while breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided during the trekking days. Vegetarian meals are widely available, and special dietary requirements should be communicated in advance.

Safe drinking water is available along the trekking route, although trekkers should use purification tablets, a water filter, or another reliable treatment method. Carry a reusable water bottle and drink regularly throughout the day, particularly as you gain altitude toward Khopra Danda and Annapurna Base Camp.

A duffel bag is normally carried by porters while trekkers carry a small daypack containing daily essentials. Keep valuables, important documents, medication, water, warm layers, and personal items in your daypack. Waterproof protection for both the daypack and main luggage is recommended.

The itinerary can use road transportation between Kathmandu, Pokhara, and the trekking trailheads, with domestic flights available as an alternative depending on the selected package. During the trekking section, transportation is arranged for the designated trailhead transfers.

Comprehensive travel insurance is strongly recommended and should cover trekking at the maximum elevation of the itinerary, medical treatment, emergency evacuation, and helicopter rescue. Check the altitude limit and trekking coverage of your policy before departure.

“The Manaslu trek is incomparable. It's suitable as a first trek in the Himalayas — plenty of time for acclimatisation and such captivating views that spending time on "altitude sickness" would be a pity.
