Langtang Valley with Gosainkunda Trek – 11 Days — Important Trip Info
Accommodation
Accommodation is provided in comfortable hotels in Kathmandu and teahouses or lodges during the trek. Rooms are generally twin-sharing with basic facilities. Accommodation becomes simpler in remote and higher-altitude areas.
Food & Meals
Breakfast, lunch, and dinner are provided during the trekking days. Meals generally include dal bhat, rice, vegetables, noodles, pasta, soup, eggs, bread, and other available local and international options.
Water & Hydration
Drinking water is available at villages and teahouses along the trekking route. Trekkers should carry a reusable water bottle or hydration bladder and use purification tablets, drops, or a suitable filter when necessary.
Luggage & Packing
Porters carry the main trekking luggage, while trekkers carry a small daypack containing water, snacks, valuables, documents, a camera, and personal essentials. Warm layers, comfortable trekking shoes, rain protection, and suitable clothing are recommended.
Travel Insurance
Travel insurance is recommended and should cover trekking activities, medical treatment, emergency evacuation, and helicopter rescue where applicable. Insurance costs are not included in the trekking package.
Visa & Documents
International travelers need a valid passport and Nepal tourist visa. Trekkers should carry their passport copy, travel insurance documents, required permits, emergency contacts, and other necessary travel documents.
Health & Safety
Our trekking team provides safety support throughout the journey. Trekkers should walk at a comfortable pace, stay hydrated, eat properly, get enough rest, and immediately inform the guide about symptoms such as severe headache, dizziness, nausea, unusual tiredness, or breathing difficulties.
Helicopter Rescue
Helicopter rescue can be arranged in the event of a serious medical emergency when evacuation is necessary. Helicopter rescue costs are normally not included in the trek package and should be covered by appropriate travel insurance.
Altitude & Acclimatization
The trek reaches high elevations, particularly around Gosainkunda Lake, which is approximately 4,380 m above sea level. A gradual walking pace, proper hydration, adequate rest, and following the guide's instructions are important for managing altitude-related risks.
Weather & Climate
Weather conditions can change quickly in the Langtang and Gosainkunda region. Spring and autumn generally offer favorable trekking conditions, while winter can bring snow and colder temperatures. Rain, clouds, and changing mountain weather are possible depending on the season.
Money & Payment
Trekkers should carry sufficient Nepalese cash for personal expenses, snacks, drinks, charging, hot showers, and other services. ATM and card facilities may be limited in remote trekking villages.
Communication & Internet
Mobile network and internet access may be available in some villages but can become weak or unavailable in remote and higher areas. Trekkers should not depend entirely on mobile connectivity during the trek.
Electricity & Charging
Electricity and charging facilities are available at many teahouses, usually for an additional fee. Carrying a power bank is recommended because charging options may be limited at higher elevations.
Guide & Porter
A licensed trekking guide leads the group and provides assistance with navigation, safety, accommodation, permits, and local information. Porters help carry the main luggage, allowing trekkers to walk more comfortably with a lighter daypack.
Hot Shower
Hot showers may be available at selected teahouses for an additional charge. Facilities can become more limited as the trail reaches higher and more remote areas.
Permits & Entry Fees
Required trekking permits and applicable entry fees are arranged according to the current regulations for the Langtang and Gosainkunda route. Trekkers should carry their passport and permit-related documents throughout the journey.
Culture & Traditions
The Langtang region has strong Tamang cultural traditions, while Gosainkunda is an important religious destination for Hindu and Buddhist communities. Visitors should respect local customs, religious sites, monasteries, prayer flags, and traditional practices.
Langtang National Park
The route passes through Langtang National Park, offering opportunities to experience forests, rivers, wildlife, mountain landscapes, and diverse Himalayan ecosystems. Trekkers should follow park rules and help protect the natural environment.
Essential Trekking Gear
Essential equipment includes trekking boots, warm clothing, thermal layers, a waterproof jacket, sleeping bag, gloves, hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, water bottle, headlamp, trekking poles, personal medicines, and a daypack.
Best Time to Trek
Spring and autumn are generally popular seasons for the Langtang Valley with Gosainkunda Trek – 11 Days because of suitable trekking conditions and good mountain visibility. Winter can be colder with snow at higher elevations, while monsoon brings rain and slippery trails.
What our travellers say
“The Manaslu trek is incomparable. It's suitable as a first trek in the Himalayas — plenty of time for acclimatisation and such captivating views that spending time on "altitude sickness" would be a pity. And it's a special pleasure to walk with Krishna. He is a knowledgeable, reliable and brave guide, and a very pleasa…”
